Collage Ensemble received a grant to create an art work about the LA Produce District through the Community Redevelopment Agency in 1996. For three years, the collective became the artist in residence for this nocturnal community. Lo Cal Frozen Blues was an opportunity to create a work about this experience for a different audience than the Produce District community. In typical order, the collective met for several meals to discuss the installation but it wasn't until the day of installation in the gallery that the artists would understand what the art work would become. From top L clockwise: the completed installtion, Enrique Gonzalez, Brandy Maya Healy, Steven M. Irvin, Alan Nakagawa, and Brandy again. Not pictured is Alessandra Moctezuma. She probably took these photos.
